   Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic surgeries is a method of surgery where major surgeries in the abdominal cavity can be done without making an abdominal incision

Incision made over the abdominal wall is the main cause of pain and mortality after surgery. In laparoscopic surgery the abdominal wall is pierced through small openings of 5mm and a larger 10mm diameter near the umbilicus. Through the 10mm opening a laparoscope i.e. telescope is introduced and connected to a camera and video screen and the abdominal cavity visualized. The instrument used for manipulation, excision, incision etc will be introduced through the 5mm opening

In gynecology, laparoscopy is done mainly for sterilization, removal of discarded uterus, removal of masse in the ovary and for surgeries for tubal pregnancies. Laparoscopic tubal sterilization is done by applying flop rings (silastic ring) to the middle part of the tube to occlude the tubes and prevent pregnancy.

Laparoscopic hysterectomy is done for patients with uncontrolled bleeding, fibroid uterus, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, etc . Attachments of the uterus are released through laparoscopy instruments and the uterus is removed completely by vaginal surgery
